Seven Billion and Counting - Part 2

Aims:
1. IWBAT explain how the world's population has grown so much in recent years and why overpopulation is problematic.
2. IWBAT describe China's solution to its overpopulation problem, the one-child policy.


Tasks:
1. Do Now: independent clause, dependent clause, or phrase?
  • independent clause: a complete thought (could be its own sentence); has subject and predicate
  • dependent clause: an incomplete thought (could NOT be its own sentence); has subject and predicate
  • phrase: not a clause because it doesn't have BOTH a subject AND a predicate; usually a preposition and an object
DIRECTIONS: Look at the words in all capitalized letters. Are these words an independent clause, dependent clause, or phrase? Type in the correct answer and press enter. Spelling counts, so work carefully!
