- Share your evidence.
- Evaluate evidence (find strongest and/or organize into different reasons).
- Organize or outline your argument.
- Rehearse your argument.
- Face off!
- Pair off with a partner of the opposing side.
- One side presents his/her argument and the other side listens.
- Swap and repeat.
- Repeat back to your opponent their best points.
- What evidence was most compelling or persuasive?
- What was the strongest persuasive moves your partner made?
- Caucus with your side again to plan rebuttal.
- Share other side's strongest points.
- Plan a way to refute or minimize counterargument.
- Rebuttal!
- Pair off with same partner of opposing side/position.
- One side presents his/her argument and the other side listens.
- Swap and repeat.
- Follow through: Write 1-2 paragraphs in which you defend an argument, making the strongest argument possible. You may select either side of the argument for this last step, but citing evidence and including a counterargument is required.
